Student Union

The purpose of the Student Union is to unite the students and promote their academic and personal well-being. The Student Union has representatives in all decision-making bodies of Lappeenranta University of Technology, for instance the University Board, department councils, scientific councils, etc. The duty of the Student Union is to assure that the students' voice is heard in the decision-making of the university.

 

Student Health services

The Finnish Student Health Service (FSHS) provides general, mental and dental health care services for undergraduate students of universities and other institutions of higher education.

You can use the FSHS general, mental and dental health care services if you are an undergraduate student of a university or other institution of higher education and you have paid your student union membership fee to a student union that is a partner of the FSHS.

Through the national FSHS web site, you can access the electronic services and find general information about health and well-being. On the Lappeenranta FSHS web page you find e.g. the opening hours and location of the local services.'

Aalef book store

The Aalef bookstore is located on the ground floor of the main building. It sells books, stationary, lecture notes and much more. You can also purchase or reload your bus card in the Aalef bookstore.

 

Student work of the Evangelical Lutheran parishes

The Evangelical Lutheran parishes of Lappeenranta offer specialized activities for all the students and the whole staff of Lappeenranta University of Technology regardless one's denomination or religious background.

These activities are coordinated by the university chaplains Sakari Kiiskinen and Sari kosonen. The activities include e.g.:

  • Evenings for the students with different themes
  • International gatherings once a month (so called International Evenings with a different theme country each month)
  • An outdoor day each term (e.g. the winter Outdoor day with skiing, sledging, ice fishing etc.)
  • Bible study groups both in Finnish and in English
  • Communion services in English.
     

In addition, the university chaplains offer pastoral care and counselling when needed. Sakari Kiiskinen and Sari Kosonen are also available for helping to organise various kinds of events to promote the well being of the students and the staff as well as for marrying, babtizing etc. (in Finnish, English and German).
